19. 20.

Crosby is 20 months…say whaaa?! Only 4 months away from being two…and suuuuure acting like it! He is smart, full of energy & personality and has a mind of his own.  Part of me is loving this age and part of me is counting down until it's over. Days like yesterday when he was funny & sweet giving me kisses all day were the best.  Days like last Saturday when he whined, wouldn't nap, and kept doing EVERYTHING I said not to, made me want to pull my hair out…BUT I still wouldn't trade it for anything!

The tank Cros is wearing in his 20 month pic, I whipped up for him.  Clay & Jack (his friend from work) are constantly talking about working out and making fun of each other saying "you even lift bro?" so I just had to put that on a shirt!

House Updates

So nothing glamorous to look at or anything, but here are a few updates to our casa.  We have painted {twice} the entry/living room/kitchen/dining rooms.  We started out with builder beige and had two accent walls then covered that up with a pale gray….well that gray took on too much of a blue tone once dried and paired with cabinets/furniture and everything.  SO we ended up taking the gray from the accent walls we had & lightened it up significantly.  We already knew that tone worked in here, we just wanted a lighter version of it to make the room look bigger.

In the kitchen, we got all of the old backsplash knocked out and the new drywall up where the wall was damaged.  The new baseboards are being painted, and we have tested out the concrete on one section of the countertops.  More to come…

You can see in the pictures that there is literally CRAP everywhere….this is a major downside of tweaking your house but I guess on the flip side, I don't have to worry about doing my usual weekly cleaning haha! Just constant swiffering of the floors…

Smooth.

Summer is here and I have been in search of some new breakfast ideas.  I wanted something that was filling, that didn't take long to make, and that I could take with me to go run errands or to "eat" while I was doing stuff around the house.  Also let's not forget cool since it's so blazing hot in Texas in Summer AND something that a toddler would like.  So I went in search of smoothie recipes on Pinterest and it seemed like they all had the same basic theme: fruit, juice/water/milk, ice.  So I didn't really stick to any sort of recipe, I just thought up what I might want in the smoothies and threw it all together.

I hit up Target to get my ingredients:
12 oz bag of frozen pineapple
12 oz bag of frozen mixed berries
1 bag of spinach
Bunch of bananas
1 big tub of greek yogurt

It took me maybe 10 minutes to put these bags together and it made 8 bags (or 8 smoothies).  4 of the bags were the pineapple, banana, spinach combo and the other 4 bags were the mixed berries, banana, spinach combo.  Each bag includes half a banana, a handful of spinach and approximately 1.5 cups of fruit.

I put the bags in the freezer and pull each one out as I need them.  It's super easy and fast, and all the measuring takes place in that 10 minute assembly.  All I added to my blender was a cup of water and a big dollop of greek yogurt. I thought they turned out great, not too sweet but sweet enough and super refreshing.  If you like a sweeter smoothie, you could add a full banana or fruit juice.  {I was trying to cut out the sugar and extra calories by adding water.} Next time, I am going to get some different fruits to try out!

Casa Montgomery Facelift

Casa Montgomery is going to undergo a little facelift…not full on renovations {especially considering it's only 4 years old!} but we want to upgrade a few of the plain builder features and make it more our style.  We started with painting the entry, living room & kitchen/dining area.  It was "builder beige" and we had officially ran out of touch up paint so we figured painting it a light neutral gray {shocking, I know} would do the trick.  Too bad the gray we originally picked out ended up looking blue, so we had to redo.  Ugh.  Oh well it looks sooo much better now!  We also painted the ceiling white, which really opens up the room.  Here are some "in progress" pictures…I will be doing some updated posts throughout the whole process, but the big finale pictures will hopefully be posted by the end of summer.

Pop, Lock & Drop It.

These tanks were made for one of my favorite tiny people...Perry! When her mama, Charla, said she needed some new tanks for summer AND that I could put whatever I wanted on them, I got pretty excited.  I knew one of them had to be a rap one (duh.) and we also all know how I feel about Texas so that was #2 then I was stumped for the third.  Arrows seem to be all the rage right now so I drew some up and voila.

Pretty sure Crosby is going to need the "Y'all" tee as well. Then he and Perry will look simply adorable ruling the streets of Keller together this summer.

16, 17, 18

Whoa. Crosby is EIGHTEEN MONTHS old! I mean, I literally just planned his 1st birthday and I will already have to start planning his next one in a few months! That s**t  CRAY.

Some of Crosby's faves are:
  • Eating: This is still his #1 favorite activity.  He basically still eats everything we give him.  He is obsessed with fruit especially bananas, still lovin' the veggies (which I hear is rare bc most kids are kickin' those to the curb by now, so I am hoping this sticks around as long as possible), LOVES pickles, cheese, sweets (any and every kind), and his new favorite snack is BBQ Pop Chips.
  • He is still a great sleeper {MOST days} but if he is teething or going through a growth spurt, he will wake up every 15-20 from like 5:45 on and just talk to himself or sometimes cry out but then fall asleep again then wake up...and this goes on until about 8 when we decide he is fully up and ready for some breakfast.
  • He loves books but sometimes he favors more than others and then I have to hide them because I can't read another word of them...I'm talking to you "Guess Who Mickey Mouse?" and you "Goodnight Moon"
  • He is would rather be outside than anywhere else which is great except he doesn't understand things like rain or 35 mph wind.
  • He is proving to be rather clumsy considering 2 months ago he had to have 3 stitches and the other day he wasn't paying attention & fell into the coffee table....with his face & now he has a black eye. (In his 18 month photo it is strategically concealed with the shadow, but you can see a hint of the scrape)
  • Loves dancing, helping with laundry, playing with Palmer, puzzles, giving hugs and he's just started giving kisses and when he does he goes "mmmmma" {it's pretty cute.}
  • Crosby has 15 teeth
  • Crosby says: Mama (sometimes Mommy and sometimes even throws in a Mom and I am like "are you a 13 y/o all of a sudden?!?") Dada/Daddy, Dog (which is still basically every animal he sees), Nana (Banana), Outsiiiii (Outside), Down, Go, Bubbles, Ball, Uh Ohhhh (which he repeats all the time over and over and he also says this when he has taken a deuce in his diaper and pulls at it letting us know to go change him), Dickey (Which is supposed to be Mickey), Da Duck (Donald Duck) And when he really really wants to go outside "Mama Go, Mama Gooooooooo" So I am considering that his first real sentence...counts right?
  • Stats: He hasn't had a doc appt in awhile so I am not for sure but according to our scale at home he is 29.6 lbs and at his last appt at 15 months he was 33.5 in tall so I am guessing he is closer to the 35 in mark now. He can still fit in some of his 12-18 month clothes (and some 9-12 shorts from last summer) since he has a tiny waist, but he is mostly in 18-24 months for pants/shorts, 2t in shirts, and 2t & 3t in PJ's.

Can you tell he wasn't too into having his pic taken at 17 months?! Haha.

On Instagram Straight Flexin'

So I have some new shirts to share...between work and just being crazy busy I haven't blogged in forever. That seems to be a going theme: I blog pretty steadily for awhile then disappear for awhile.  I've really got to get more consistent with it!!! So anyways, first shirt is Crosby's Trinidad James shirt.  We ALL know I love LOVE rap and maybe the more inappropriate the better, I just can't help it! Sorry I am not sorry.   The song is called "All Gold Everything" and there is a line in the song that says "on Instagram Straight Flexin'" so I thought it was pretty fitting for this kid. [He looks like such a G right?! Haha]

For Allie's sweet girls Emerson & Madison, I made some Texas Love tanks.  Allie paired them with the cutest yellow/white chevron bubble shorts to wear for their bluebonnet pictures this year. Just realized I should have snagged one of them off facebook....

One of my good friends wanted a shirt to announce her pregnancy and she is a serious runner....like ran in the Boston Marathon last year serious, so I made her this shirt to wear in the announcement picture and to wear while she runs for the next few months.

Scarlett, one of my favorite little girls, turned one a few weeks ago so when I was deciding what to get her as a gift I knew I wanted to make her a few shirts.  I knew she would be getting toys and probably tons of super cute clothes so I decided to get her some play clothes and jazz 'em up a bit. Her mom, Kayci, is a die-hard Beyonce fand (I mean, who isn't) so I had to do a little shout out to Bey's Destiny's Child days and make Scarlett her own "Bootylicious" tank.

I also made her a shirt that has a quote from one of my & Kayci's FAVORITE movies.  We can basically only watch it with each other or by ourselves because we drive people crazy because we know every word.  Literally, start to finish, the whole movie including songs...If you have never seen it and are in the mood for an awesome 80's flick, I HIGHLY recommend it!

There's a line in the movie where they are trying to figure out if they know the same guy by his red Camaro and the character Daryl says:

Yeah, but do a lot of people have the license plate “So Cool”?

The movie is set in Chicago, but I obvi had to throw in a little Texas love and make Scarlett's license plate a TX one.

I have some more shirts/onesies in the works and I will be sharing soon. School is slowing down and summer is approaching so my goal is to try to blog at least twice a week.
