UPDATES

You hear that? Yeah, me either. That's the sound of NOTHING because I haven't blogged in MONTHS! BUT some of it is for a good reason, I have been making some updates to the blog (which you may have noticed) and I have been working on a special project which I will announce soon and we have been doing some more house updates.  Other than that its just been life and work taking up my time, but I am really going to make an effort to blog more regularly.

Okay back to the updates! If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen a few of these pictures I have posted of the progress.  But, if you are like me, you like to see them all in one spot and see how each one progresses.

So just as a reminder, this is what our dining room looked like about a year ago: striped wall, picture ledges, etc. I would have posted a picture of what it looked like before that but I think it is safe to say that we are all blocking that awful red wall out of our memory!

And here (if you squint real hard through the Mexican party decor) you can see what it has looked like for the past 8 or so months: Stripes gone, gray walls, and vintage door just propped against the wall.

Behind that wall in the dining room is what we call the "playroom" but let's be honest, it's just crap. EVERYWHERE. And hopefully now that it is wide open for the world to see, we will finally turn it into a playroom. :)

Clay's Uncle Mike always gets stuck helping us
So as you can see from the picture below, there is now an opening. Well, two really. You can see where the existing door is located and where we put the new opening.

And as you can see here, there is the junk. You can also see the process of framing in the door way and adding the rounded corners to the new doorway and framing in and adding drywall to the old doorway.

Crosby had to leave some treasure inside the walls!
And here is the last step that we have complete: the taping and bedding. All that's left for us to do now is to redo the texture then paint!

Our sliding door is working great, I will be taking more pictures once we start on cleaning and decorating the playroom.

The other project we have been working on is two Ikea hacks.  A few years back, I re-did an antique dresser and painted it black lacquer and put some handles on it but shocker never finished it then decided I didn't want it anymore.  So I sold it and we lived without a dresser for a few weeks. I picked out 2 Ikea dressers and did a combo of two different dresser DIY's that I had found on Pinterest.  Putting Ikea furniture together is the ab-so-lute worst, but we are both happy with how they have turned out. One dresser came already painted white and one was raw wood, but it was fine because I knew I was going to end up painting them both.

I spray painted the legs of both dressers gold and then painted them both gray (one of the pictures it looks purple, but I can assure you it is NOT).

Before we got the handles painted and put together we had a very high-tech system for opening the drawers...blue painters tape!

The handles were made from copper pipes and copper bell hangers.  We wanted something a little industrial so we went with the copper pipe, but didn't want copper so I spray painted them all gold. I will post an actual finished picture soon, I promise!

Customize me.

So A) I haven't had a blog post in forevs and B) I haven't posted any of the tees & onesies I've whipped up in the last few months so I am going to list them kind of in the order I did them...months ago. Oooops, mah bad. At least you get to look at some of the cutest models ever!

So who isn't obsessed with this song?! (Yeah yeah I know it's so 6 months ago...like when I made the tanks but I am still lovin' me some Iggy!) Well if you are not, I am not really sure why.  It's my ringtone, Crosby stops in his tracks & immediately starts dancing when he hears it, & I could listen to it on repeat. So that being said, I knew I had to make a shirt with lyrics from this song.  My guinea pig is usually Crosby (and while he is for sure going to have this shirt at some point) but I decided this time it would be one of my other favorites, sweet Scarlett! I took a boring white tank and dyed it ombre style.  Pretty sure she is so fancy and totally rocks this tank. A friend of a friend saw Scarlett's tank and wanted one for herself and her little boy Hudson. I love a good "mommy & me matching" situation. She also has a life & style blog (Fox Den Blog) with killer posts so y'all should go check her out!

For my favorite little Baylor fan, Jack

The shirts below were made for a one of my oldest friends who is a singer! She had an album release party and wanted all of her nieces/nephews to be able to wear a shirt too...so the design was not made by me (it's fabulous though isn't it?!) but I painted the shirts.

Texas is my favorite but I made an exception for this cutie...one of my oldest greatest friends lives in OKC and wanted a onesie for her sweet little girl so I went against better judgement and made her this (with lots of love!)

We all know my love for Mean Girls so this design was totally necessary.  I made it for my friend and fellow "mean girl" Genny for her bday, with the intentions of also making one for myself haha! We aren't afraid to match...

Senor Crosby's Fiesta!

CONFESSION: Let's just preface this blog post with the fact that I basically FORGOT to take any pictures of the decorations at the party or before so many of the pictures were the next morning...so you won't even get the full effect but ehhhh, you'll get the idea.  Also sorry for the extra grainy iphone shots! A few posts ago, I showed you the invites & said that it was a fiesta theme so I went heavy on the pinata type fringe.  I made the cupcake toppers, the sopapilla toppers (seen below, I got no action shots of them...), and the fringe banners.  I hung several other banners and had some serapes placed about that ordered from a party supply company and my mom had some pinatas made for the party.

Pre-party DIY-ing

This guy was actually next to the front door, but the wind
was blowing like crazy so he had to move indoors.

Crazy hurr, don't currr. I promise his hair was somewhat "done"  before
he started running around like a crazy person.

Sweet Cousins!

Post cupcake.

Do ya chain hang low?!

You know me, any chance I can get to quote an old school rap song, I take it! Here is a little purse DIY that I whipped up last month before heading to Vegas.  My friend Megan is a fellow thrifter and found me a hot pink snakeskin clutch (with a long strap so it can be worn cross body) and I of course loved it...when I got it in the mail, a thought occured: "uhhh I have that exact purse but in light pink/purple!" I have probably had it since college and hadn't used it in forever.  It's missing the strap and so I always just carried it as a clutch which I almost never use anymore...this girl needs a strap! I also decided I didn't need 2 pink snakeskin thrifted bags so I decided to try a little something on it.
