19. 20.

Crosby is 20 months…say whaaa?! Only 4 months away from being two…and suuuuure acting like it! He is smart, full of energy & personality and has a mind of his own.  Part of me is loving this age and part of me is counting down until it's over. Days like yesterday when he was funny & sweet giving me kisses all day were the best.  Days like last Saturday when he whined, wouldn't nap, and kept doing EVERYTHING I said not to, made me want to pull my hair out…BUT I still wouldn't trade it for anything!

The tank Cros is wearing in his 20 month pic, I whipped up for him.  Clay & Jack (his friend from work) are constantly talking about working out and making fun of each other saying "you even lift bro?" so I just had to put that on a shirt!

House Updates

So nothing glamorous to look at or anything, but here are a few updates to our casa.  We have painted {twice} the entry/living room/kitchen/dining rooms.  We started out with builder beige and had two accent walls then covered that up with a pale gray….well that gray took on too much of a blue tone once dried and paired with cabinets/furniture and everything.  SO we ended up taking the gray from the accent walls we had & lightened it up significantly.  We already knew that tone worked in here, we just wanted a lighter version of it to make the room look bigger.

In the kitchen, we got all of the old backsplash knocked out and the new drywall up where the wall was damaged.  The new baseboards are being painted, and we have tested out the concrete on one section of the countertops.  More to come…

You can see in the pictures that there is literally CRAP everywhere….this is a major downside of tweaking your house but I guess on the flip side, I don't have to worry about doing my usual weekly cleaning haha! Just constant swiffering of the floors…

Smooth.

Summer is here and I have been in search of some new breakfast ideas.  I wanted something that was filling, that didn't take long to make, and that I could take with me to go run errands or to "eat" while I was doing stuff around the house.  Also let's not forget cool since it's so blazing hot in Texas in Summer AND something that a toddler would like.  So I went in search of smoothie recipes on Pinterest and it seemed like they all had the same basic theme: fruit, juice/water/milk, ice.  So I didn't really stick to any sort of recipe, I just thought up what I might want in the smoothies and threw it all together.

I hit up Target to get my ingredients:
12 oz bag of frozen pineapple
12 oz bag of frozen mixed berries
1 bag of spinach
Bunch of bananas
1 big tub of greek yogurt

It took me maybe 10 minutes to put these bags together and it made 8 bags (or 8 smoothies).  4 of the bags were the pineapple, banana, spinach combo and the other 4 bags were the mixed berries, banana, spinach combo.  Each bag includes half a banana, a handful of spinach and approximately 1.5 cups of fruit.

I put the bags in the freezer and pull each one out as I need them.  It's super easy and fast, and all the measuring takes place in that 10 minute assembly.  All I added to my blender was a cup of water and a big dollop of greek yogurt. I thought they turned out great, not too sweet but sweet enough and super refreshing.  If you like a sweeter smoothie, you could add a full banana or fruit juice.  {I was trying to cut out the sugar and extra calories by adding water.} Next time, I am going to get some different fruits to try out!

Casa Montgomery Facelift

Casa Montgomery is going to undergo a little facelift…not full on renovations {especially considering it's only 4 years old!} but we want to upgrade a few of the plain builder features and make it more our style.  We started with painting the entry, living room & kitchen/dining area.  It was "builder beige" and we had officially ran out of touch up paint so we figured painting it a light neutral gray {shocking, I know} would do the trick.  Too bad the gray we originally picked out ended up looking blue, so we had to redo.  Ugh.  Oh well it looks sooo much better now!  We also painted the ceiling white, which really opens up the room.  Here are some "in progress" pictures…I will be doing some updated posts throughout the whole process, but the big finale pictures will hopefully be posted by the end of summer.
